A Registered Nurse with advanced education and health care specialty training. Works in collaboration with the resident's physician to treat medical issues, and holds prescription authority.
Our Medical Director oversees physician and nurse practitioner services for regulatory compliance. Primary Care Physicians regularly visit residents on-site at Columbine West.
Includes gait/transfer assessment, balance training, wheelchair positioning, range of motion, prosthetic/orthotic training, wound care, home assessments, and family education. Utilizing heat, ice, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
Fills the gap between active therapy and normal care. Nursing staff and Restorative Aides assist residents needing functional support to maintain ambulation, range of motion, dressing, hygiene, and eating skills.
Assessment and training in activities of daily living (grooming, dressing, feeding, tub/shower transfers, upper extremity strengthening, fine motor skills, hand splinting, safety training, and energy conservation).
Provides assistance with eating/swallowing skills, cognitive training, expressive/receptive language, voice training, aural rehabilitation, alternative communication systems, and memory strategies.
Special diets such as No Concentrated Sweets, No Added Salt, and Renal Diets are easily accommodated. A variety of consistencies like ground meat, pureed food, and finger foods are available. A Registered Dietitian oversees all dietary needs and individual preferences.
